The first time I meet Brian Cox it’s in Los Angeles, shortly after he’s won best actor in a television drama series at the Golden Globes for the role of Logan Roy, the menacing patriarch in Succession. The place is humming with awards-season fever, and Cox can’t take two steps without being mobbed by selfie hunters and fans asking him to growl his character’s catchphrase, “Ah, f*** arrfff.” (He shrugs: “You’re telling people what you want to tell them and they think it’s fun.”)
